In the next three months, online bus ticketing platform redBus is launching its operations in at least four South and Southeast Asian countries.
Last year in June, redBus expanded its operations in Singapore and Malaysia. The company is also exploring acquisitions and strategic investments to enter these new geographies.
Sangam, who took over as chief executive of redBus in June 2014 revealed that the online bus ticketing platform is looking forward to take redBus to the markets which are similar to India, unorganized and semi-organized, where a lot of booking is still offline.
redBus falls into the league of other homegrown consumer Internet start-ups like Practo Technologies Pvt Ltd and Zomato which have gone global.
redBus was acquired by Ibibo Group in 2013 for $100 million. Since its acquisition, the number of bookings on redBus have surged from 600,000 every month in 2013 to 2.1 million per month.
Last month, the company has raised $250 million more from Naspers Ltd and is planning to spend a significant amount in penetrating deeper into western and northern India.
