After weaving a success story through its Fresh and Digital chains, Reliance Retail is all set to roll out its new retail identity – Reliance Mart – in Ahmedabad by this July. Reliance Mart will house a range of digital, food and lifestyle products such as apparel and footwear under various price points.
“Now the market is ready for Reliance Mart. We will start from Gujarat and move on to other tier I and II cities across the country very soon,” Bijou Kurien, president and chief executive, Lifestyle, Reliance Retail, told Indiaretailing.com. The size of Reliance hypermarkets will be between 40,000 and 200,000 square feet. It is learnt that the second Reliance Mart will also come up in Gujarat – perhaps in Surat.
The company plans to open its first Reliance Digital for Bangalore by August. The first Reliance Digital store was launched in New Delhi in March. Reliance plans to open another Digital store in New Delhi by October.
Reliance entered the retail sector in October last year with its Reliance Fresh chain of grocery stores. Today, there are about 169 Fresh stores in the country. “Reliance is opening about three stores a day and we will soon cover every nook and corner of the country,” Kurien added.
