Major Italian fashion brand Gucci will launch its first exclusive standalone store for India in Mumbai. Spread over 3,400 square feet, the store will be located at Nariman Point in South Mumbai. The Mumbai store is expected to be the largest luxury store in India.
Two more Gucci stores will follow in New Delhi, the first by the end of the year and the second one in 2008. The store will house men’s and women’s collections of ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, watches, sunglasses, jewellery, small leather goods, gifting items and other accessories.
Sujata Assomull, director, Communications, The Murjani Group, told Indiaretailing: “The Mumbai store is the new concept store and is the largest luxury store in India and marks the arrival of India’s most desired brand (according to an ACNielsen study). It really marks a new level of luxury coming to India.”
Talking about customisation for Indian customers, Assomull said, “As with all Murjani brands, we follow the international fashion calendar and will have the same range of products as in any store in London, Paris, or Milan. Our sales staff is highly trained; they are fashion consultants in their own right.”
