Ian McLeod is a new managing director of leading Australian grocer Coles.
McLeod was chief executive of Halfords and had joined the company in 2003 and has been chief executive since February 2005. He has also been a part of the executive leadership of Wal-Mart’s German operations.
The board of Halfords will now select a successor from internal and external candidates and has also appointed a search consultancy to assist with this process. Presently, trading director Paul McClenaghan and finance director Nick Wharton will report to the chairman as acting joint managing directors.
