UB City to open in April

Must Read

Bengaluru in April is set to see what is probably the country’s first exclusively super luxury mall. The launch will take place in the first week of the month.

“Though we have not decided on the exact date, we are hoping to be open to consumers in the first week of April. We want maximum brands to open together. As of now, they are busy setting up shops, and we expect them to be ready by April,” Neeraj Duggal, vice president, retail development, Prestige Group, told Indiaretailing.

Also, if industry sources are to be believed, almost all major brands will announce their shops ‘open’ on April 1, 2008.

Brand connoisseurs will see an amalgam of such super premium brands as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Ferragamo, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Moschino, Stella MacCartney, Dunhill, Canali, Mont Blanc, Van Cleef & Arpels, Zegna, Paul Smith, Moschino, Alberta Ferretti, and Kimaya.

Located at Vittal Mallya Road and Kasturba Road in Bengaluru, the mall is spread across 125,000 square feet. This will be the first project from the Prestige Group and UB Group alliance that was announced last year, when UB Group bought a majority stake in the venture.

UB City – The Collection mall will be in the UB City premises, which is a commercial, retail and hospitality project. This urban mall will display elements of classical Roman architecture and is expected to become yet another landmark in the city.

UB City started leasing out its commercial space in 2004, though tenants started moving in only recently. Yahoo has already moved in, while corporates like Citibank, ABN AMRO Bank, Ernst & Young, Amba Research, Tata and GE are expected to open offices at the UB City premises.
