MMTC Limited, a government of India enterprise, is planning to set up a chain of stores to retail gold jewellery and medallions.
The company is looking to set up a joint venture with prospective companies to set up 16 retail shops all over the country, said the company release. However, the names of the companies were not disclosed.
MMTC will organise an exhibition called ‘The Festival of Gold’, from April 11 to 14, in Chandigarh.
The event will also establish MMTC’s presence in Punjab and Haryana for retail and domestic activities in gold and silver.
MMTC is also setting up a gold and silver refinery and medallion manufacturing unit in Haryana, and is planning to set up gold and silver special economic zones (SEZ) at various locations in India to cater to the demand of exporters.
