Crocs India Pvt. Ltd (CIPL), the Indian subsidiary of Colorado-based footwear retailer Crocs Inc., has opened its first exclusive store in India at Pune.
Speaking to media at the launch, Mark Langhammer, managing director, CIPL, said: “We are looking at creating a new market segment for our product range. We also plan to set up manufacturing facilities in India once volumes pick up.” The company plans to roll out a total of 14 such stores in cities across the country by September.
Elaborating on the retail operations, Murali Desingh, deputy managing director, CIPL, said, “We will open more company-owned stores at Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata over the next few months. We will also look at franchises, but at a later stage.”
The brand is currently present at around 250 retail points, including outlets of well-known footwear brands, and is targeting sales of 250,000 pairs of footwear in India by the year-end.
