Suresh D Bhatia, in an exclusive revelation to Indiaretailing, confirmed that he has joined Emaar Group as chief executive officer, retail. And as of now, Bhatia will be based out of Dubai and will handle leisure and entertainment part of the Dubai Mall.
Earlier, Bhatia as director of Major Brands India has been instrumental in the uprising of fashion-and-lifestyle retailing in India by introducing many premium fashion-and-lifestyle brands in the country.
Bhatia, the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Sammaan 2006’ awardee, started his career with garment exporter Gokuldas Images, Bengaluru, where he helped make Weekender an international brand.
In the Middle East, during his stint with Landmark, he was instrumental in expansion of a blue chip company, Babyshop. He has also handled brands such as Bossini, G-2000, Buster Brown, Peg Perego and Little Tikes at Al Maya Lals Group.
Bhatia’s new employer Emaar Properties is one of the world’s largest real estate companies and is emerging as a global provider of premier lifestyles. A Dubai-based Public Joint Stock Company, Emaar is listed on the Dubai Financial Market and is part of the Dow Jones Arabia Titans Index. Emaar has highlighted the remarkable global growth of the company by debuting on the 2007 Financial Times Global 500 ranking, which provides an annual snapshot of the world’s largest companies.
