Odyssey, one of the leading leisure retailers, opened its largest store in the country at Anwar Shah Road in Kolkata. The store happens to be the company’s first opening in the city, and 31st in the country.
“With the Kolkata store launch, Odyssey is making inroads into the literary capital of the country. Kolkata is one of the important markets for us, and we would expand within the city shortly with more stores in other catchments,” said TS Ashwin, managing director of Odyssey.
Spread across 28,286 square feet, the store was inaugurated by the Bangla author Bani Banu, who released a children’s book ‘Abol Tabol’ by Sukumar Ray, at the store.
“Odyssey will redefine the leisure shopping experience for Kolkatans. Odyssey stores will offer world-class ambience for an undisturbed, pleasurable, and relaxed shopping experience,” added Ashwin.
The store stocks over 60,000 books on varied subjects including fiction, non-fiction, computing, self-help, health & fitness, business & management, food & drink and travel, along with coffee-table books. It also has a large stationery section that includes brands like Sheaffer, Cross, Parker, Pentel, and ITC Expressions. A large collection of international, indi-pop and movies’ music titles as also an extensive range of multimedia titles and accessories including PlayStation and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 gaming consoles are on offer.
The store also has a ‘Candy Corner’ that stocks candies from across the world, while the gifts corner includes decoratives, figurines, crockery, glassware, leather accessories, fragrances and jewellery.
