GMR, the company, which manages Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, has planned to arrange spaces for retail at all its passenger terminals soon and will house products across categories including apparel, lifestyle, and healthcare.
Speaking to media , BS Shantharaju, chief executive officer, Delhi International Airport Ltd, said, “Though there are a fair amount of retail stores in the capital, airports still offer scope to bring retailers of all sections together under one roof and GMR’s new plan is interesting as it offers scope for retailing products including lifestyle, healthcare and apparel together.”
“We are trying to implement the globally available structure here, where a dedicated zone is reserved for airport shopping. We are also looking for franchisees for departmental stores and stores for essentials, which a traveller seeks on his way in or way out at any international airport.”
Arun Arora, spokesperson GMR, said, “We are in talks with global brands and dedicated departmental stores to open their shops in the designated areas. These brands include YSL, Louis Vuitton, Levis, The Jewellers, ITC Wills, and Titan .”
