Pollo Campero to foray India; targets 10 stores by 2012

Pollo Campero, the US-based quick service restaurant chain (QSR) is planning to enter the Indian fast food market. Also, the QSR major will open 10 restaurants across the country by 2012, said a top company official.

Speaking to media on the sidelines of an event in Delhi, Gustavo Duran, executive vice president, Pollo Campero, said, “We are in advanced stages of negotiation with local franchisee partners for setting up our stores in India. We are planning to roll out our first store in Delhi latest by the third quarter of 2009 and will open 10 stores by 2012.”

“We are looking at India as a major market for growth and expecting transactions of up to USD 1 lakh each month from each store,” added Duran.

Currently, the company is operational with 300 restaurants across the world in countries including Guatemala, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Spain, Chaina and Indonesia and has a global turnover of USD 450 million.
