Simmtronics Semiconductors, a manufacturer of memory modules, motherboards and graphics cards, has announced its foray into the netbook PC segment. Based on Intel atom mobile CPU, the range will be available in the Indian market soon. Further, the company targets to sell around 400 units of netbooks by this year-end, said a company press release.
Vinit Shangle, national sales manager, Simmtronics Semiconductors, said, “We have kept our distribution and marketing plans discreet owing to the ongoing economic recession and increasing numbers of delayed payments and defaulter cases. However, when the market gets right, we will launch full-fledged range of netbooks, in partnership with Intel. We expect to sell 400 units of netbooks by the end of December this year.”
“The motivation behind our entry in netbook segment is to get prepared for growing bandwidth and Wi-Max opportunities in India,” added Shangle.
Meanwhile, the company will not be putting any additional distribution layer and continue to sell the product through its 800 peripheral selling and direct billing partners (DBPs), added the release.
