GFCCL to build ‘fish malls’ in Gujarat

In a latest development, Gujarat Fisheries Central Cooperative Association (GFCCL) has been learnt to approach several municipal corporations in Gujrat seeking allotment of land for construction and development of ‘fish malls’. In a letter to Vadodara Municipal Corp, GFCCL has requested to allocate land for construction of a 2500 square foot mall. Similar requests have been made to Surat and Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioners, according to sources close to the development.

The fish malls would benefit all those seeking various kinds of fishes by being a one-stop-shop for several varieties and also those who are in the fishing business, added a source.

Gujarat Agriculture and Fisheries Department has entrusted GFCCL with the responsibility of developing these malls and making available several varieties of fishes in retail and bulk quantities, sources said.
