At a time when mall delivery is under the cloud due to economic slowdown, cookie retailer Cookie Man India, part of Australian Foods (I) Pvt Ltd, has planed to open outlets at Indian airports and targets 250 stores in the next five years, according to media reports.
“Airports in India are expanding and they represent a tremendous opportunity for us to scale up our operations. Currently, we are present in eight airports across the country. This will be scaled to 28 in next two to three years,” quoted Pattabhi Rama Rao, president, Cookie Man India in the reports.
“The malls, which were supposed to have come up, are yet to take shape. This is making it difficult for us to expand in the current scenario. We will be investing Rs 25 crore (Rs 250 million) on our expansions,” added Rao in the reports.
Currently, the company operates 45 stores and has developed a robust franchising business model for pan-India expansion, the reports further added.
