After Panasonic Japan made announcement to invest USD 330 million in next three years and further decided to consolidate six different Panasonic’s companies/entities under Panasonic India in next two years, the IT division of Panasonic has been evaluating to expand the business focus on MFDs, Toughbooks, projectors, whiteboards, security products and plasmas products.
Speaking to ChannelTimes.com, Ajay Madan, business head – Digital imaging System, Panasonic India, said, “We are upbeat with new investment and integration of Panasonic India. The IT business has now become a part of system sales division (SSD), and we will be putting investment on those IT products which have been growing in the overall market. However, our market for telecom products including telephone, PBX/KTS and fax machines have been going slow, therefore, we have added security and networking products to the portfolio. Recently, we have appointed seven system integrators (SIs) for our security products in India. Moreover, we are looking forward to gain more government based IT projects, as we have recently acquired DGS&D rate contract.”
In India, Panasonic has adopted regional distribution model for different products. “The integration of Panasonic India will not impact our channel partners and distribution model at all. This fiscal year, we are looking to double our IT business as compared to Rs 220 cr last year. We see our security, MFDs printers, projectors, whiteboards, toughbook products will be the growth engine,” added Madan.
The company also plans to open 100 Panasonic brand shops for consumer electronics and IT products across India, besides expanding its network by signing up with large format IT retail stores.
