KFC to take its store count to 123 by ’09 end

From the existing number of 48 outlets, KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken), the leading fast food restaurant chain, plans to open 75 more restaurants this year, to take the total count to 123 stores by the end of the year 2009.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Unnat Varma, director, marketing of KFC stated, “We are planning to expand rapidly. We are going to take the total store count of KFC outlets from the present 48 to 123 by the end of 2009.”

Varma further informed, “We are looking at all kinds of locations including high streets and malls for the new stores.”

“The attempt is to be well represented in the cities where we already are. We are right now present in 12 cities and the opportunity in these cities itself is huge. Hence, we are not looking to get in newer cities as of now.”

Commenting on the brands performance so far, Varma states, “The brand has been doing really well. There is very strong customer acceptance for our offerings. Our food is quite differentiated, and signatured and it addresses the present consumer trend of discovering new flavours, cuisines and formats.”
