An event organised by SAP India in New Delhi on July 23rd, it laid stress on having ‘transparency’ in every area of their operations of an organisation. Transparency’, the company says, is crucial to run a business in the best-possible-way to overcome the challenging economic climate.

Yesterday’s conference was part of a series of ‘world events’ (called ‘SAP World Tour’), which is to be conducted in100 cities across 50 countries. Customers, partners and industry experts turned out in huge numbers in India’s capital to attend the business and technology road show.

To survive in the tough global business environment, companies must be able to see clearly, think clearly, and act clearly. So becoming ‘Clear,’ does not only, allow companies to survive and thrive in near term, but also help to sustain in long term, SAP officials pointed out. “Clear or uncluttered enterprises operate with increased speed, strategies, process, and business network quickly in response to changing market conditions,” they said.

In order to have ‘clear’ insight on every business activity, SAP offers several solutions — The SAP business by-design solution to gain transparency and speed up decision-making with in-built analytics, SAP ERP solution applications, enterprise service oriented architecture for business and IT to improve a company’s ability to change and grow.

On this occasion, there was also talk on newly launched ‘SAP business objects explorer, designed to provide insight to ‘large volume of data’ in a growing enterprise. Sanjay Deshmukh, VP, Business user SAP, Indian subcontinent, described the ‘Explorer’ as user-friendly and compared the Explorer’s function to that of the Google experience of searching information and data. SAP BI Explorer can pull out any set of desired information in a well presentable form, he said.

Referring to the prospects of technology-led solutions for retail in India, Sandeep Shirodkar, VP, Service Industry and Solution group (ISG), SAP Asia Pacific Japan said: “The Indian retail market is vast and modern retail is making its presence felt in a big way across big, mid-size and small cities. This definitely throws up challenges for retailers to manage and run their businesses across vast geographical boundaries.”

He further emphasised that SAP has significant presence in the retail sector with solutions like SCM and ERP, among others.

SAP has supplied technology to 90 per cent of major retailers in India, and the organisation is well aware of growing demand of retail technology in the country, Shirodkar confirmed.
