Messe Frankfurt GmbH to expand operations in India

Messe Frankfurt GmbH, Germany’s largest trade fair company with strong global footprints announced that India will be a key focus market for its global operations.

Michael von Zitzewitz, chairman, Messe Frankfurt GmbH said, “The Indian market has evolved and business-to-business trade fairs have become a platform for the trade fraternity to do business. India is a key market in the global map of Messe Frankfurt and we see considerable growth potential here.” He added, “India is a very important and significant market for Messe Frankfurt. Indian economy is growing significantly faster than many other countries. That is the reason why we have identified India as a growth engine for Messe Frankfurt.”

Unveiling the company’s plans for the Indian market Wolfgang Marzin, newly appointed chairman and member of the board, Messe Frankfurt GmbH said, “We are looking at expanding our operations across various sectors besides textiles, textile technology and beauty where we are the leaders in India. The company expects India to contribute to a significant percentage of its revenues from Asia.”

He stated, “India emerged as the second largest exhibiting nation among 139 countries at Frankfurt Fairs, with more than 2,500 Indian manufacturers and scores of visitors present every year. This reflects the growing global reach of the Indian companies and the demand for the Indian manufacturers in the global scenario. He added, “Messe Frankfurt now endeavors to bring the global business community closer to the Indian market by having more international fairs in the country, which will bring Indian and Global businesses together.”

Messe Frankfurt has key properties in India Heimtextil, Beauty World. The company is looking a further growth and consolidation of these existing trade fairs besides looking at introducing new trade fairs in India.

In 2008, Messe Frankfurt organised more than 102 trade fairs, of which more than half took place outside Germany and four were in India in the consumer goods, textiles, architecture, technology and design as well as automotive technology sectors. In India, the company will target on new sectors such as security, machinery, garments and music industry while Beauty World 2010 and Hem Textile 2010 will be held in October in Mumbai.
