In order to dispense Ayurvedic, Thai or other such popular massages, therapists require proper training to understand the requirement of a consumer,” Siddharth Shankar, Director, Mystic Cures and Spa, was quoted as saying. “We are definitely lacking as we have only 1,000 trained therapists in India to fulfill the demand of 3,000 day spas and 1,200 resort spas,” says Blossom Kochhar, Chairperson, Blossom Kochhar Group. A study by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) suggests that the wellness industry in the country currently stands at Rs.1,500 crore.
