Spar debuts in North India with hypermarket at Delhi

International hypermarket chain Spar, which in India follows a licence agreement between Dubai-based Landmark Group’s Max Hypermarkets India Pvt Ltd and Spar International, has opened an outlet in Delhi – its first in North India. The outlet at Pacific Mall, Tagore Garden is spread over an area of 74,000 sq.ft. Besides Delhi, the retailer has its presence in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mangalore.

By the end of the ongoing fiscal, Spar plans to open hypermarkets in Gurgaon and Pune. The two outlets will occupy a retail space of approximately 50,000 sq.ft each.

The company has stores sized between 30,000 and 70,000 sq.ft and plans to set up 30 hypermarkets by 2013.
