Sohum Shoppe has recently opened an MBO, Sohum Emporio, in Swagota Square, Guwahati. Spread over approximately 40,000 sq.ft., the outlet will stocks brands such as Calvin Klein, FCUK, GAS, Gant, Swarovski, Mont Blanc, IZod, Global Desi, AND, Vero Moda, Only, and Jack n Jones. Sohum Shoppe is a family megastore which claims introducing MBO (multi-brand outlet) format in the North Eastern region.
Speaking on the occasion, ML Jalan, Director, Sohum Shoppe, said: "The store has a shop-in-shop format. The first time ever in North East- Sohum Emporio will showcase some of the world famous brands. Our focus has been to create an international store. This has been made possible by using global brands and catering to foreign labels where gap exists in the market. The process is dynamic and we are always amenable to changes and utilising opportunity to provide international brands to our customers."
Commenting on the retail scope in Guwahati, Jalan said, " Guwahati is an upcoming market with yourng and aspiring customers so it was very important for us to bring international brands here because of high brand recall. With lot of educational institutes surrounding the city including IIT, this city has lot of youth power who are discreet about their fashion choices."
Sohum plans to enter markets like Shillong, which do not have any prominent players but need such kind of stores. It will first cover Assam before entering other North East regions.
