Coca Cola Golden Spoon Awards 2012 felicitate captains of Indian food & grocery industry

The first day of the Food & Grocery Forum India 2012, the magnum opus of the Indian food and grocery industry being held at Mumbai from 27 -28 March, concluded with a colorful evening that witnessed the felicitation of India’s leading food and grocery retailers and foodservice chains at the fifth Coca Cola Golden Spoon Awards 2012. The awards recognised and honoured the brave innovative spirit of leaders in the dynamic Indian food retail industry.

Mainland China bagged the ‘Most Admired Foodservice Retailer of the Year’ award in the Dine-in International Cuisine category, while Domino’s Pizza walked away with the honours for the ‘Most Admired Foodservice Retailer of the Year: QSR Foreign Origin’. In the fiercely competitive category of Cafes & Juice Bars, Café Coffee Day won the award for the ‘Most Admired Foodservice Retailer of the Year’.

The awards night also witnessed the first edition of FIFI honours that recognized the food retailers creating a niche in their regions. Steak House from Delhi, Kipps Mart from Ludhiana, Magsons from Goa, Haiko Supermarket from Mumbai and Amma Nanna from Chennai were felicitated with FIFI Honours.

Renowned singers Neeti Mohan and Parthiv Gohil mesmerized the audiences with enthralling performances on bollywood chartbusters. Ash Chandler’s stand-up comedy act tickled the funny bone of the audiences. The awards night was jointly anchored by Ash Chandler and Tanvy Gogia. The Coca Cola Golden Spoon Awards is the only platform which brings the food captains together and witnesses knowledge-sharing, thereby contributing towards evolving the food retail industry in India year-on-year.

The Coca Cola Golden Spoon Awards 2012 selection process involved inviting entries from the nation’s leading foodservice and food and grocery retailers across multiple categories. In their official entries, contenders were asked to provide data relating to their performance for the year 2011-12 across two main heads – retail presence growth, and business performance. The Jury for Coca Cola Golden Spoon Awards 2012 included: Atul Singh, President and CEO, Coca Cola India; Siraj A Chaudhry, Chairman, Cargill Foods; Abhishek Malhotra, Partner and VP, Booz & Company; Amit Lohani, Convenor, Forum of Indian Food Importers; and Amitabh Taneja, Chairman and Managing Director, Images Group.
