DVAR: Wearable Luxury Designer Wear

Must Read

DVAR, luxury multi-designer store, is a melting pot of designs and products that appeal the diverse taste palette of fashion enthusiasts. It creates a luxurious shopping experience for women between 18 and 40 years. Spread over 1,500 sq.ft., the store features the best of haute couture, luxe, bridal, ethnic and contemporary wear. Owner and founder of the store, Vijayta V Gandhi shares that DVAR infuses the design sensibilities of 24 renowned designers, including Aarti Vijay Gupta, Anju Sant Kumar, Arpita Mehta, Charu Parashar, Clad Can, Deepika Govind, DNA Jewels by Anup Shah, Dolly J, et al.

Gandhi is passionate about interior and design, and has designed the store herself, right from the cream and golden walls, shining chandeliers on the ceiling and matt-red rusted apparel stands. "The Interior of the store is a personal extension of my tastes that travels over the years and is a cross between palatial Indian and baroque," says Gandhi, owner of the store.

It has an exclusive wall for every designer – unique concept practiced in the meccas of fashion, Milan and Paris. The premium section of the store is curated by Ramola Bachchan; including the antique gate that has been sourced and revamped from the ruins of a palace near old Delhi and interiors with creams and golds hues.

Everything at DVAR is ethnic in its existence and modern in its appeal. The store is divided in various semi-sections, for say, small corners to showcase designs by various designers. There is no separate section for different items like shoes, accessories or silver gifting items, in fact it flows with the apparel wear section.

The idea is to give customers an overall experience of what they can pick with a certain outfit. DVAR is compact and the setting is fused to showcase apparel and accessories in a blend. There are just different shelves to showcase the shoe line by shoe couturist Vidhi Kejriwal and jewels by DNA jewels.

The quintessential problem of a low ceiling is smartly dealt by using a lot of mirrors in the store that not only accentuates the overall look but also adds the height. To complement the white furniture dusty matt wooden flooring has been used.

Each aspect of the store has great amount of detailing, for instance, the concept of window display has been replaced LED screen. It showcases a collection various designers giving a peek –a-boo to what customers can find inside. "Almost every clothing store in the country displays mannequins. But we wanted to break the rule and make it look more stylish and appealing," she explains.
