Born on 13 April, 1944, John Paul Jones DeJoria has established himself in the world of hair care as an employee of Redken Laboratories from where he was fired. Later, he worked in varied odd jobs and sold encyclopedias. After years if struggle, in 1980, he had decided to open his own product line with his friend and ace hairstylist, Paul Mitchell. Gradually, DeJoria cofounded renowned hair care company, John Paul Mitchell Systems, with $700, selling shampoos door-to-door while living along the Sunset Strip in an old Rolls Royce. Today, the brand makes roughly $900 million in annual revenue. Proving that he wasn’t just lucky, DeJoria cofounded Patron Spirits in 1989 as a hobby and went on to create a global market for luxury tequila. The two premium brands, Paul Mitchell and Patron, have made DeJoria a fortune worth about $4 billion.
