Salon Nayana in India and Sri Lanka
With more than three decades in the hair and beauty industry, Nayana Karunaratne needs no introduction. Karunaratne stepped into hairdressing right after finishing school. Then she took her first step in the hair and beauty industry. She started travelling out of Sri Lanka to get trained in schools like Alan School of Hairdressing, Vidal Sassoon Academy, Toni&Guy Academy, all in London and Rever School of Hairdressing in Hong Kong. It was in 1980, she opened her first salon named Salon Nayana. Salon Nayana has 10 branches in Sri Lanka and India. They use international brands such as Wella Professionals, Schwarzkopf Professional and L’Oréal Professionnel in addition to local herbal products that are available in Sri Lanka, such as Nature’s Secrets and provides hair, beauty and bridal services to her clients. She also found the Sri Lanka Association of Hairdressers and Beauticians (SLAHAB) in 1996. Her future plans are to collaborate with salon professionals and academies and share our knowledge with them through IHB education standards.
