Estée Claire Academy in Bangalore

Must Read

The Estee Clair Academy completes the wheel of the salon and product business. Parvathy Subbaiah is an internationally trained make up artist. She finished her training at the Make up Technique International, Bangkok and has 15 years of experience. She explains that the Estee Clair Academy is more focused on skills. There is 25% theory and 75% hands on. Says Paravthy, “Students understand the kind of skill they would need to demonstrate. Guided by the trainer, the students practice on live models, which either they bring in or we provide for them. They use mannequins for the hair but once they are confident they go ahead with a live model.”

“Our vision was 360 degree beauty solutions for the industry,” says trainer, Parvathy Subbaiah. “In this niche area of beauty and spa industry, we found a lot of unskilled labour. Very often new hires were put into training and that takes away their first 2 months which is a cost to any company. Our vision was to help the industry to provide trained and skilled personnel who could start operations on the job as soon as they join.”

Courses:
Under make up, Estee Clair offers training in personal make up, foundation make up and bridal make up. Under skin, the course covers complete beauty rituals and if a customization is required, where a salon owner would want their employee to be trained only in specific areas like pedicure, manicure, facials, hair spa or body spa, a seperate course can be customized for them and rates are fixed according to the skills required.

Spa massage courses are categorized according to junior therapist, therapist, senior therapist, head therapists and trainer. There is also a seperate salon management course that caters to the management level. Under hair, Estee Clair covers the basic course where one can be trained for doing basic hair cuts, basic chemical treatments and temporary straightening and curling. The advanced course covers advanced hair cuts with a diploma in hair designing. All courses are certified with a diploma depending on the level and degree of course that is being offered.

The academy also offers a diploma in Cosmetology, which is combination of skin, make up, hair, body and soft skills. In this course, students will be trained to handle customers and will be exposed to live salon work environment.
Parvathy also added, “Estee Clair has a vision to empower women. We not only supprt in training, we also support in setting up their salon according to their budget. So our support would be in terms of interiors, operations, recruitment, training personnel and also supply of products. We are also open to help anyone to set up their franchise with Estee Clair. We have students who have set up their salons in Malaysia and they use our products as well.”

Eligibility:
The criteria in terms of education is an SSLC graduate, however the Estee Clair Academy does give relaxation for people provided they have good communication skills and are passionate about their jobs or are keen on working with a salon.
Parvathy adds, “We also take in people who have not had the opportunity to educate themselves. Again we are concentrating on the girl child where they can work as an apprentice. There are NGOs who have asked for our support.”
