Must Read

In the spirit of corporate philanthropy, fashion company Bestseller is arranging a world-wide charity day across all its brands and countries on April 10th, under the theme of ‘One day to unite and do good’.
Bestseller India, which markets and retails fashion brands Vero Moda, Only and Jack & Jones, has announced that the company will be donating an entire day’s revenue on the 10th of April, 2015. This will include sales proceeds from EBOs, shop-in-shops, and e-commerce channels. Bestseller will dedicate 50 per cent of the amount to the cause of educating the girl child in India in partnership with Project Nanhi Kali. The other 50 percent will be given to eminent global organisations, including UNICEF, GAIN and SAVE THE CHILDREN, all of which are dedicated to the cause of improving the standard of living for children across the world.
Over 40 countries along with India will be participating in this altruistic endeavour. Bestseller India has chosen to go ahead with Project Nanhi Kali because they have identified that the literacy rate of the girl child is one of the gravest issues in India. Project Nanhi Kali empowers more than 100,000 girls across rural, tribal and urban regions in nine states of India by providing them with high-quality education support and resources.
Commenting on the initiative, Vineet Gautam, Country Head, Bestseller India said, “Bestseller has been a part of many CSR initiatives at a national and an international level. It is our constant endeavour to go beyond the realm of fashion and have a positive impact on the communities we operate in. That is why on the 10th of April, globally Bestseller will celebrate “GIVE-A-DAY”. Over 40 countries will be a part of this initiative where 50 percent of the days’ earnings will be donated to global charity causes and the balance 50 percent will be donated to a local charity.”
“Bestseller India has decided to partner with Nanhi Kali after evaluating how passionate and invested they are in equipping the girl child with education to improve their way of life. We hope to make a significant contribution to a few lives with this,” he added.
Sheetal Mehta, Trustee & Executive Director, K.C.Mahindra Education Trust, said, “It’s really heartening to see companies go the extra mile to create positive change. It helps projects such as ours immensely, as we are then able to scale up and ensure the education of many more girls.
