QSR chain Cafe Coffee Day is set to unveil a home delivery service via its recent alliance with foodservice delivery aggregator Swiggy. The chain, which has 1500-plus outlets across 219 cities, has piloted the initiative in 50 units across Bengaluru, from where Swiggy will pick up the orders for customers using the Swiggy app.
“Delivery for snack time and quick meal was an area where we saw a clear gap,” Coffee Day Enterprises marketing president Bidisha Nagaraj told TOI.Swiggy, which is funded by SAIF Partners and Accel Partners among others, will take a 15% commission on every delivery. The company plans to take this partnership to seven other cities, including Mumbai and Delhi NCR.
Online food ordering sites and apps such as Swiggy connect users with restaurants that offer food delivery in their area and lets them choose, order and pay online. Customers can also potentially get discounts and offers using promo code and deals. Foodpanda, Zomato and Justeatin are currently among the fastest growing online food ordering and delivery companies in India.
QSR chains in India are increasingly forming alliances with online delivery platforms to enhance customer experience and delivery speed. In November, Swiggy announced that it had tied-up with QSR chain Burger King, to offer quick and seamless ordering experiences for customers. Swiggy will be the exclusive pan-India partner for Burger King and will manage logistics for the chain’s 23 outlets in Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Delhi and Gurgaon, the company said in a statement.“While expanding our catalogue, we expect to create a large impact in the hyper-local delivery space, customers can expect to receive their favourite burgers in 35 minutes from the comfort of their home,” Nandan Reddy, co-founder, Swiggy, said.
