Mother Dairy Fruit and Vegetable Pvt Ltd has announced that it will set up a 25,000 metric tonne per year integrated food and vegetable (F&V) processing plant in Ranchi.
Mother Dairy – a major supplier of dairy products in the National Capital Region – is going to spend approximately Rs 75.65 crore to set up the plant.
Experts associated with the project say that the first phase, a freezing line, should be operational by December 2016 while the pulp and concentrate processing line will be operational a year later.
The Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Raghubar Das, laid the foundation stone for the proposed integrated plant. “Jharkhand has immense potential for processing of various fruits and vegetables. Through this state-of-the-art facility, we will strive to explore better opportunities for almost 50,000 farmers and their produce,” said S Nagarajan, Managing Director of Mother Dairy.
Mother Dairy is a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board and currently operates a processing plant in Bengaluru with a capacity of up to 18,000 metric tonne per year.
Mother Dairy dabbles in three other business segments besides horticulture, namely milk, dairy items and edible oils under the brand Dhara. The company has 400 Safal outlets in the Delhi-NCR area, operated on the franchise model.
