Furniture giant Ikea plans to enter Haryana

Swedish furniture retailer Ikea, has announced to set up outlets in Haryana with an investment of about Rs 2000 crore. The furniture giant will employ around 1,000 executives but only after some paperwork with the Haryana government.

“We will expand our supplier base and develop logistical infrastructure for our business. In our journey, till now we are satisfied with support from the government authorities and we look forward to a strong partnership with Haryana.” says Juvencio Maeztu, CEO Ikea in E-paper livemint report.

Before choosing Haryana, Ikea had made its presence in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Telangana. They invested around Rs 2000 crore in Karnataka to buy the land for a four storeyed showroom.

Eversince the Indian government had given them a green signal in 2013, Ikea has around 48 suppliers. It has also sourced goods of about €300 million a year and plans to double its figures by 2020.
