As an extension to its digital bookings offering, digital payment and m-commerce firm, Paytm has tied up with PVR, INOX and many other cinema houses to sell movie tickets on its platform.
The recent move by Paytm will break the monopoly that BookMyShow has over online entertainment business. Paytm is also planning to further strengthen its offering. It is eyeing at integrating the offline experience where the users will get the opportunity to pay for food and other value-added services through their mobile wallet after reaching the movie hall.
It will also be offering cashback deals on booking the tickets to provide extra incentives to the customers. It will help the digital payment and m-commerce firm to win the customers.
It is also planning to give a personalised sticker to the offline merchants. The sticker will have a code that can be scanned by the mobile phone of a customer. The customer will enter the amont to be paid and the same amount will be transferred immediately to the merchant.
Four months ago, Paytm entered the offline transactions. It is claimed by the firm that excluding its mobile recharges, it is doing a 3.5 million offline transactions in a month amounting to $8.5 million. It is expected that this number might grow 10 times to 35 million with 4 million offline merchants by the end of this year.
