Maruti targets 4,000 outlets by 2020

Maruti Suzuki, the most popular car of India, is aiming its sales network to increase in two-folds. By 2020, it has set a target to achieve 4,000 outlets and sell around 20 lakh units per year.

The company achieved 1,820 traditional dealerships, over 1,470 cities by at 2014-15 fiscal. In the current fiscal, it will add another 200 outlets increasing the count to more than 2,000 shops.

Maruti Suzuki India, for the fiscal year 2015-16, had reported a sale of 14,29,248 units, which equals to a rise at 10.6 per cent. This constitutes its highest ever domestic sales of 13,05,351 units and 1,23,897 units of exports.

“We posted record (domestic) sales in 2015-16. While the industry grew by around 7 per cent, we grew 11.5 per cent during the fiscal,” Exec.Director Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India, R S Kalsi was quoted by PTI as saying.

To the above quote Kalsi added, “We are looking at doubling the sale outlets to 4,000 by 2020. This is in line with the ambition to sell two million units by 2020.”

Maruti Suzuki is going to increase the number of Nexa showroom outlets to 250 from 127 in the current fiscal. By FY16, the company has added 200 traditional dealerships.

The four topmost selling Maruti Suzuki car models in the country – Alto, Dzire, Swift and WagonR, have proved their stability for last four years in a row.
