DHL to increase head count by 15pc in India

To take on aggressive rivals in the e-commerce space, the DHL Group has decided to increase the head count by 15 per cent in India.
Currently, there are about 21,000 employees working in different divisions of DHL – DHL Express, DHL Global Forwarding, DHL Supply Chain and Blue Dart – in India. The group globally employs 5,00,000 people.
It has increased its collective staff strength by 25 per cent in the last two years. In India, the biggest chunk of DHL’s staff is employed with Blue Dart. The company has expansion plans which includes increasing its aircraft fleet size and setting up warehouses.
In the last two years, e-commerce players such as Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal, have aggressively expanded their businesses in India, setting up logistics arms and competing with traditional players.
