Former Snapdeal CTO launches travel portal GoFro

Must Read

Former Chief Technology Officer of Snapdeal, Amitabh Misra, has reportedly launched an online travel planning and booking marketplace, GoFro, to provide customised international holiday packages to Indian travellers.
MakeMyTrip, which owns majority stake in the company, had last year made an initial investment of $5 million (₹32 crore) in GoFro.
The destinations currently listed on the portal are Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Bali, Mauritius and Dubai. And the portal aims to add 50 more destinations on the site by the end of this financial year.
While there are companies who do itinerary planning, there are some who just do hotels, and Online travel agencies (OTAs ) who do flights, Misra aims to bring the entire process on one platform through this portal.
Travellers will get live assistance from travel experts, who will help travelers co-create a travel plan. The marketplace will also offers users data analytics-driven recommendations, based on a user’s plan. For instance, on the basis of travellers’ destination and itinerary, the portal may recommend that on the third day of the travel to Singapore there’s a Formula One event happening and ask the user whether he wants to buy a ticket.
In addition to booking, the startup will also offers ancillary services such as travel insurance, visa, foreign exchange, and SIM cards.
The company will also launch a ‘companion app’ by the end of this month, which will help the travellers when they reach the destination.
