Abu Dhabi-based international retailer Lulu Group is developingĀ a second LuLu shopping mall, hotel and international convention centre in Kerala’s capital city of Thiruvananthapuram.
The group is planning on investingĀ Rs 2,000 crore in the development of the mall.
The complex will cover 19 acres of land, located at the National Highway in Akkulam, making it the second biggest shopping mall in the country, the company claimed.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan laidĀ the foundation stone for the mixed use project on August 20, a company release said.
Managing Director of Lulu Group, M A Yusuff Ali, said the mall, slated to open by early 2019, will house the Lulu hypermarket as the anchor store and will houseĀ some of the best brands in the world in fashion, cosmetics, home furnishing, jewellery and will also feature an amusement centre, and a multiplex.
Other attractions include a family amusement centre, a food court with a capacity for 3,500 guests – the largest in India, restaurants, coffee shops and a nine-screen multiplex.
The mall, designed by UK-based Design International consultants, will have parking space for up to 3,000 cars with easy access from all main roadsĀ and will adopt the latest traffic management systems.
Lulu Mall has built up area of more than 2 million square feet in four floors along with hotel and Convention center.
The project is the largest private investment in Kerala in recent times.
