US footwear brand Crocs has appointed Deepak Chhabra as the new managing director for India business, the company said in a statement.
Nissan Joseph, who has lead the Indian operations of the brand for three years will take up the position of managing director of Crocs Korea.
Chhabra who has over two decades experience in retail, distribution, buying, merchandising and brand management, will be responsible for the growth and expansion of the Crocs brand across India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Maldives, said the statement.
Chhabra, 42, holds a postgraduate degree in footwear technology and marketing from Footwear Design and Development Institute and has worked with brands like Reliance, Sketchers, Asics, Nike, Tag Heuer and Sprandi.
Most recently, he served as vice president of Reliance Retail where he enjoyed a long career spanning close to a decade. He was based in Bengaluru and spearheaded the expansion of Reliance Retail’s operations to over250 stores across 110 cities.
Crocs had entered India in 2007 through a joint venture with Chogori Retail which was later changed into a franchise operation. The company later terminated its exclusive franchising agreement for India with Chogori Retail.
