IndiaRetailing Insights: December 2023 saw the opening of over 48 new stores in various parts of India according to the data from IndiaRetailing Insights.
In terms of region, north India saw around 18 store openings followed by the south – around 15, west – around 14 and east region with single digit numbers.
The newly opened stores are from the cities of Palanpur, Kochi, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Gurugram, Sangrur, Ahmedabad, Kottayam, Surat, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Delhi, Faridabad and Bengaluru Airport.
The brands that opened in December include Zudio, Lacoste, Tira, Mango, Mokobara, Tim Hortons, Azorte, McDonald’s, Chanel, Red Rose Mart, Bath & Body Works, Victoria’s Secret, Jade Blue, Intune, Pigeon, Meena Bazar, Hamleys, Uniqlo, SS beauty, Third Wave Coffee, Jamie Oliver Kitchen, Coach, BOX8, Cinepolis, Dunkin, Adidas, Homelane, Burger King, Social, Mars Cosmetics, Madras Mandi, Stanleys Lifestyles, GKB Opticals, Daily Object, Soch, KFC, Arrow, Toys”R”U, Lee store, Wrangler etc.
Among these openings, some key players fared well in December 2023.
For instance, American lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret opened three stores in December followed by home decor brand Homelane, multinational coffee and restaurant chain Tim Hortons and Reliance’s beauty brand Tira with two stores each.

Landmark Group’s value fashion brand Max Fashion completed 17 years in India and has garnered a customer base of 35 million with over 480 stores in the country. French luxury label Christian Louboutin entered a joint venture partnership with Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd (ABFRL).
American fast food QSR KFC launched its 1000th store with plans to create 1 lakh jobs across India. Personal care brand Mamaearth completed seven years in the business. In addition, December also saw a new addition to the mall supply with the launch of the Lulu Mall in Palakkad, Kerala.
