Bengaluru: Shiseido-owned global makeup brand Nars Cosmetics has launched its first boutique store in India, an industry official wrote on social media on Tuesday. This is followed by the beauty retailer’s official entry into the Indian market with department store chain Shoppers Stop, four months ago.
The 300 sq. ft. store is situated in New Delhi at Nexus Select Citywalk Mall, Saket District Centre, which also hosts international beauty brands such as Sephora, Estee Lauder, Dior and Bobbi Brown.
“Excited to announce the grand opening of our first Nars brand boutique store at Select City, Saket. Join us as we celebrate this milestone and explore our curated collection firsthand,” said Biju Kassim, chief executive officer-beauty at Shoppers Stop in a LinkedIn post while sharing images of the new store.
The boutique features a three-sided storefront with larger-than-life visuals photographed by the founder of the brand François Nars, modern amenities such as virtual try-on tool, and large format media campaign films. The store was designed by Nars and Fabien Baron, of New York design firm Baron & Baron.
IndiaRetailing was the first to break the story of Shoppers Stop being in talks with the Japanese giant. Subsequently, the department store chain solidified the partnership by signing a franchise agreement with Nars in March 2023.
The brand products are also available at select Shoppers Stop and Sephora outlets nationwide, as well as through online platforms such as shoppersstop.com and sephora.nnnow.com.
Nars Cosmetics was founded by makeup artist and photographer Nars with 12 lipsticks in 1994. In 2000, it was acquired by Japan’s beauty and cosmetics conglomerate Shiseido.
Shiseido Asia Pacific is a Singapore-based beauty retail giant with a portfolio of brands including Shiseido, Clé de Peau Beauté, Nars, Drunk Elephant, Elixir, Anessa and d program.
