Le Marche has leased 10,000 sq. ft. in DLF Promenade Mall in Vasant Kunj and another 15,000 sq. ft. area in DLF’s swish Chanakya mall—spaces previously occupied by Foodhall
New Delhi: High-end supermarket operator Le Marche has snapped up spaces in two prominent DLF Ltd’s New Delhi malls that were left vacant by the exit of Foodhall, a gourmet food chain that folded its operations after its parent company Future Group went bust.
Le Marche has leased 10,000 sq. ft. in DLF Promenade Mall in Vasant Kunj and another 15,000 sq. ft. area in DLF’s swish Chanakya mall, according to Amit Dutta, chief executive of Le Marche Retail that currently operates 10 gourmet stores across Gurugram, New Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and Faridabad. Both the spaces in the DLF-owned malls were previously occupied by Foodhall.
Le Marche plans to open the Promenade outlet in April, followed by its store in Chanakya in May, Dutta said. Both the stores are currently under fitouts, he added.
“Both Promenade and Chanakya are prime malls in Delhi NCR, and we see them as good value to add to our kitty,” Dutta said.
Le Marche, that was acquired by Noida-based DS Group in 2017, offers a wide range of about 20,000 stock-keeping units (SKUs) from basic grocery to international gourmet items including fresh-cut meats, seafood, palatable cold-cuts, chef’s marinated food products and other global cuisines.
Also, the New Delhi gourmet supermarkets operator has signed up about 25,000 sq. ft. space in Lykli Gurugram, the first upcoming India mix-use development from Ingka Centres, the shopping centre division of Ingka Group, a Swedish multinational giant that is famous for its Ikea store chain.
Lykli Gurugram is scheduled to open in late 2025 and it will also provide office facilities as well as spaces for community events. Ingka Centres’ Meeting Place concept is different to the typical mall, providing a mixed-use destination that brings together the ‘many people’ in a place where they can work, play, meet, shop and spend time.
