Bengaluru: Global clothing and accessories retail chain Gap Inc. opens its third stand-alone outlet in India in Hyderabad, a company official announced in a social media post.
The new Gap store is at Sharth City Mall at Hitec City, Mukesh Sinha, channel head of Gap Inc. announced in a LinkedIn post.
Reliance Retail brought Gap Inc. to India through a long-term franchise agreement with the American fashion brand in July 2022. Gap returned to India for the second time after parting ways with Arvind Fashions in 2020. Currently, Reliance Retail is the official retailer for Gap Inc. in India, mixing exclusive stores and digital commerce platforms.
After its relaunch Reliance retail launched over 50 Gap shop-in-shops across the country in 2022. The retail giant opened its first freestanding store in Mumbai’s Infinity Mall, Malad in February 2023 and its second store at GS Road, Guwahati. Reliance Retail is a subsidiary of Reliance Retail Ventures (RRVL), the holding company of all retail brands under the Reliance group. RRVL recorded a turnover of Rs 199,704 crore and a net profit of Rs 7,055 crore for fiscal year (FY) 2022.
Gap was founded in 1969 by Donald Fisher and Doris F. Fisher and is headquartered in San Francisco, California. The company merchandises apparel, accessories and personal care products for men, women and children through its retail stores, franchised stores, and e-commerce portals. The company operates four primary divisions: Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, and Athleta.
