Bengaluru: Leading Retail Business intelligence company IMAGES Group unveiled the Indian Business of Fashion Report 2024 at the India Fashion Forum (IFF) 2024 on Thursday at Conrad, Bengaluru.

The report showcases 100 sustainable fashion retail initiatives that are leading the charge towards a greener, more ethical future for India’s fashion business.

“Sustainability in fashion isn’t just a trend; it’s a fundamental shift towards a more responsible and compassionate industry,” said Amitabh Taneja, Editor-in-Chief, IMAGES Group. He further added, “This report not only highlights the challenges we face but also the incredible opportunities for positive change.”

The report delves into the complexities of sustainability in fashion, tackling issues ranging from environmental impact to ethical production practices. It presents a compelling narrative of the fashion industry’s evolution, from being a major contributor to global pollution to becoming a beacon of sustainability and circularity.

“As consumers become more conscious of their purchasing decisions, brands and retailers are recognizing the need to embrace sustainability. The growth of the ethical fashion market is a testament to this shift, and it’s heartening to see so many initiatives dedicated to making a positive impact,” added Taneja.

Speaking about the sustainability landscape in fashion, Dr. Naresh Tyagi, Chief Sustainability Officer, ABFRL, said, “The sustainable fashion industry is currently worth over $6.5 billion, with projections to reach $10.1 billion by 2025 and $15 billion by 2030.”

According to him, brands and retailers must embrace sustainability, turning challenges into opportunities for positive change as consumers become more conscious.

The India Business of Fashion Report 2024 isn’t just a reflection of the industry’s current state; it’s a call to action for stakeholders to come together and drive meaningful change. By championing sustainability and ethical practices, we can create a fashion industry that not only looks good but does good too.
