With major brands distinguishing fragrances for both day and evening, perfume sales are hitting a bee line in the country. The domestic luxury perfume market already at a Rs.600-700 crore, is expected to grow at a rate of 20-25 percent year-on-year. Julie DeClermont Tonerre, Marketing Manager, Luxury Products Division, L’Oreal India, states, “The buying trend in fragrances varies on the time of the day it it purchased for.
The day scent usually revolves around fruity, floral and aqueous tones whereas the evening fragrance is heavier with subtle emphasis on woody, sensual and deeper notes. The twin perfume buying trend is picking in India and the sales graph shows a clear upsurge.”
