Essar Group launched the newest addition to The MobileStore, its telecom retail initiative, in Connaught Place, Delhi. Sport star Kapil Dev inaugurated the store, part of a national chain of multi-brand and multi-service telecom outlets.

Speaking at the launch, Rajiv Agarwal, CEO & director, Essar Telecom Retail Ltd, said, “We are honoured to have Kapil Dev with us on this special occasion. Delhi is one of our key markets in the northern region. Delhiites have always been early adopters and have seen the greatest telecom and retail boom in the country. The launch of ‘The MobileStore’ in Delhi heralds a whole new telecom retail experience for the customers in Delhi. It will set new benchmarks in telecom retailing in India. Trust, guidance and fun will be the hallmarks of the buying experience at our stores.”

This is what Kapil Dev had to say on the occasion: “Essar is one of the most reputed corporate houses in the country. I am sure their foray in the telecom retail sector will ensure quality experience to consumers. The MobileStore is poised to become the preferred destination for mobiles and mobile-related shopping.”

The MobileStore will have a pan-India network of retail telecom outlets in three years – covering 2,500 outlets and 4,000 touch points across 600 cities. The ‘all under one roof’ telecom solutions outlet offers a wide range of handsets, accessories, handset exchange and handset repair services, and a range of value-added-services.

The company has envisaged The MobileStores in three formats: large – 1,000-1,500 square feet; medium – 800-1,000 square feet; and small – 200-400 square feet. Additionally, there will be the shop-in-shop formats inside large malls, retail hypermarkets and stores.

There are currently 21 stores in Delhi and over 60 across 8 cities in India.
