Tesco opens first retail test lab in India

Must Read

Tesco Hindustan Service Centre, global services arm of the world’s third largest retailer – the UK-based Tesco, has launched its first retail test lab in India at its centre in Bangalore. It will test and certify all the retail software and solutions that are developed at Tesco HSC for stores in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.

Meena Ganesh, CEO, Tesco HSC, said that the lab was a big milestone towards building Tesco HSC as a centre of excellence in retail technology and processes. Spread over 7,000 square feet, the lab has 27 tills in addition to a host of peripherals including scanners, card readers and pin-pads for the five test stores that are currently deployed.

The lab will replicate the entire point-of-sale testing infrastructure that is currently available in the United Kingdom. In time, Tesco HSC plans to be involved in the development of retail applications for which the lab will be utilised in analysing requirements and functional testing.
