Pakistan will host its first fashion week on November 4-8 this year, in Lahore. IMG Fashion, which has been organising a plethora of fashion weeks the world over for decades, is going to stage the country’s very first and very own Pakistan Fashion Week, alongside media partners Jang Group and Geo TV, according to sources from Pakistan.
The designers will get a chance to flaunt their creations in India two months before, with a preview scheduled for September in New Delhi. “The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week, running in New Delhi from September 5-9, will showcase Pakistani designers to give international buyers a feel of what the Pakistan Fashion Week will hold,” the sources added.
Created to help promote the local fashion industry, its creators, and designers for the global fashion market, the high-end fashion event will also be used as an opportunity to further accelerate efforts to make the Pakistani industry a part of the global fashion world.
Colin McDowell, one of the world’s most renowned fashion commentators, has been announced as one of the special advisors being taken on to ensure that the Pakistan Fashion Week is a success.
With a huge demand for Indian creations in Pakistan, the proposed fashion week is expected to benefit Indian designers.
