Sensing the huge demand for budget hotels and service apartments, Sarovar Hotels is preparing to increase its presence in South India.
“As part of its expansion plans in South India, the Sarovar Group will float Park Plaza properties in Bangalore and Chennai, Park Inn Suites in Bangalore, Premiere Hotels in Bangalore, and Hometel properties in Chennai,” said Anil Madhok, managing director, Sarovar.
“In Chennai alone, our company will be investing about Rs 50 crore,” Madhok informed.
Elaborating, Madhok said: “Keeping in mind the countrywide demand for service apartments, the Sarovar Group is launching Park Inn suites in Bangalore, which is the group’s first foray into the segment.”
“SAA architects, Singapore, are working on creating a special offering suited to the demands of IT professionals and corporate travellers,” he added.
Muthoot Plaza in Thiruvananthapuram will also be expanded to include extensive banquets with a capacity for 800 delegates. It will include a spa, a swimming pool and a total room inventory of 107, up from the current 57 rooms.
Park Plaza in Bangalore will incorporate a large banqueting and meeting area. Park Plaza in Chennai is being built as a first-class business hotel that would offer an array of services to the domestic and international corporate traveller.
Currently, the Sarovar Group has Portico properties in Hyderabad, Kochi and Chennai; Sarovar Premiere properties in Thiruvananthapuram and Pondicherry; and a Hometel property in Bangalore.
