Perry Ellis planning to enter India

As part of its strategy to expand overseas, the US-based apparel maker Perry Ellis International Inc. is exploring options to enter India and China.

Paul Rosengard, group president of the company’s premium brands, said: “We are looking at a lot of deals to open retail stores, and exploring opportunities in India and China.”

The company is also planning to shift its business interest and plans to lower its private label business. Francisco Gonzalez-Meza Hoffmann, vice president of strategic initiatives, Perry Ellis, said: “We plan to lower our private label business to 10 per cent of total sales, within three to five years, from the projected 15 per cent this year.”
