Emami opens second production facility in Assam

Emami Ltd, the Rs 7 billion personal and healthcare product manufacturer and the flagship company of the Rs 20 billion Emami Group, has set up its second production facility in Assam. Spread across around 50,000 square meters, the plant has an installed capacity to produce 5,400 tonnes of cream, 1,800 tonnes of lotion and 900 tonnes of ointment. The company has invested around Rs 500 million for the project, according to a company press release.

RS Agarwal, joint chairman, Emami Group of companies, said, “The new unit is a reflection of our commitment to innovation and investment at a time when the world reels under a severe economic recession. The new project also demonstrates our faith and conviction towards the industry friendly environment in Assam.”

With a host of brands like Boroplus, Navratna, Fair and Handsome, Sona Chandi Chyawanprash, Mentho Plus and Himani Fast Relief, the company maintains a compound annual growth rate of 25 per cent and is operational in 60 countries across Europe, Africa, CIS countries and the SAARC territories. Recently, the company has acquired Zandu Pharmaceutical Works Ltd comprising leading brands such as Zandu balm, Kesari Jeevan and Zandu Chyawanprash.
