Welspun India, a flagship company of Welspun Group, has promoted vice chairman and managing director BK Goenka as the chairman and managing director of the company, according to company’s latest disclosure to Bombay Stock Exchange. The post was vacant after former chairman GR Goenka passed away in December 2008.
With an enterprise value of USD 3 billion, Welspun Group is one of the leading Indian business conglomerates with interest in retail. Currently, the company operates 250 Welhome stores under Welspun Retail and has recently launched its mobile retail format Wheel Home in home décor segment. The group is operational in over 50 countries in the world.
