Mothercare’s potential tie up with Tatas is a speculation

The recent media reports about the UK retail brand – Mothercare – being in talks with Tatas for a potential tie up, may just be a speculation.

On being inquired about any such development, in an exclusive interview, Smeeta Neogi, head – Marketing, Westside remarked, “We do not comment on speculations.”

Mothercare, according to sources, currently operates 21 retail stores, out of which eight stores are stand alone and three are shop-in-shops. The standalone Mothercare stores in India occupy between 3,000 and 6,000 square feet of space and the shop-in-shop outlets, occupy an average of 2,000 square feet in space.

Mothercare sources 70 per cent of its product requirements in India from global vendors.
